Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a healing modality that uses therapeutic gentle light touch to restore health and wellness, by taking the body out of the sympathetic nervous system state and into the parasympathetic state. This change from fight-flight to rest-digest is essential to healing.
How Does Craniosacral Therapy Work?
Craniosacral has roots in osteopathic work, it is a unique form of educated, gentle, non-invasive touch. It begins after a level of safety is created for the client. This is accomplished together as the client and therapist negotiate space and contact between each other. From this safe space, the therapist listens deeply with their hands to the subtle movements of the cerebrospinal fluid within the craniosacral system.
Cerebrospinal fluid bathes the brain and the spinal cord, the fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid creates a pulse-like rhythm and tide throughout the system. A trained therapist can palpate the rhythm to evaluate the movement of this fluid throughout the body as well as to detect any variances or restrictions in the flow of this fluid. When restrictions have been found, the therapist can help encourage the client’s system to access its own resources and assist in the natural flow and movement of the fluid and related soft tissue around the fluid. This can help the body self-correct and reorganize, resulting in flexibility, and improve general health and wellbeing.
